On June 3rd, Kinston City Council members supported Downtown Kinston Revitalization's proposed redesign of our All American City Park at Blount and N Queen Streets.

This project transforms a bleak corner at a major intersection into an attractive, user-friendly gateway at the entry to the downtown historic commercial district. “We are in the process of raising private funds in order to expedite this project that will be similar to our beautiful Shirley Herring Memorial gateway project at North and Mitchell Streets” said Leon Steele, Director of Downtown Kinston Revitalization. “We are very excited about the enthusiastic energy of our Design Committee with such projects and the timing of this project is perfect. Kinston is a finalist for its third All American City Award at the end of June, and 2026 is our nation’s 250th birthday.”

Contributions are tax-deductible. Your sponsorship expedites this major enhancement. Donations of $90 or more receive an All American City license plate while they last. Opportunities for corporate or individual sponsorships include trees, benches, lighting, an internally-lit sculpture and new signage, as well as sections of a living fence along the railroad tracks.

This Park will be rededicated as the Buddy and Mary Mac Ritch All American City Park in honor of their great contributions to our City.
