Parade participants will be competing for awards. Therefore, we encourage creative participation. For instance, a bike club with decorated bikes and riders in Christmas costumes such as motorcycles or bicycles or tricycles, a Christmas costumed pet parade, decorated golf carts (Kinston Country Club is entering, so join in with yours), a children’s wagon float parade, decorated agricultural combines, Christmas art cars, whatever so long as it is holiday themed.
We also encourage our area arts groups and industries to get into the spirit with their own floats, and church floats with their choirs singing Christmas Carols or bell ringing. What makes a parade fun and magical is the creativity, the spectacle as well as the marching and music. We also welcome our new populations to showcase their Christmas cultural creativity. Kinston is filled with imaginative people. It doesn’t have to be costly to make your parade entry an over-the-top. Use your imagination. Think beyond a wreath on the grill of your car and a hand-lettered sign on the doors. Make it interesting and memorable. Let’s have fun.
