Kinston Christmas Parade

Christmas and the holiday season is about magic and memories, joy, peace and love.  It is about commUNITY.

Our big news is Pride of Kinston Downtown Revitalization is returning the Kinston Christmas Parade to late afternoon/early evening this year, Saturday, December 7, the first Saturday of December.  The parade route remains the same as last year.
This will be an all-day event that includes downtown merchants who choose to participate.

One of the performance entries to watch for this year is the Kinstonettes performing the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes’ famous 35-member toy soldiers fall at the review stand.

Registration for parade participation is easy and will open mid-September online at  The fee is $35, also payable on line, or register and pay in person at Pride of Kinston, 327 N Queen Street, Kinston, NC, 28501.  Everyone participating in the parade must be registered to be in it.

Neuse News will once again Livestream the parade via a Facebook LIVE broadcast. Last year this broadcast was viewed in over 19 states! This is a great promotional opportunity for Kinston businesses.  If you want your business mentioned or showcased, Pride of Kinston has event sponsorships available.

The parade theme is Light the Night. Everyone participating is encouraged to utilize lights on their floats and costumes (and windows/buildings) to support the theme and create a magical experience. The review stand at 327 N Queen Street is the prime viewing location.  In the street will be a 75’L red carpet for performers, thanks to Southland Flooring of Kinston at 201 E New Bern Rd, Kinston, NC.  This year bleachers near the review stand will provide reserved, ticketed seating, which is limited and must be purchased in advance. Tickets will go on sale later this year.

Everyone is invited to become part of the parade and follow Santa to Pearson Park where he will Turn on the Holidays by lighting your magnificent majestic Christmas tree along with other new lights and surprises. Hot cocoa will be sold by Lenoir County 4H Club thanks to David Mooring to help stave off the cool evening. Parade and display winners will be announced at this time, too.

Daytime business hours is Holiday Spirit Day Downtown. Participating merchants should plan and promote special activities for families to experience your business. The downtown windows will be decorated for the season as well. A new twist this year is the public has the opportunity to vote for the winning displays via social media.  Merchants can campaign for votes by promoting their special activities on their social media pages.

Catch the Christmas spirit in Downtown Kinston on Saturday, December 7th. This will be a spectacular, memorable and magical day.
