The route begins at Grainger Stadium and concludes near East Caswell Street and McLewean Street.

Rules, Regulations & Safety
Safety is paramount. The individual completing the registration is the Team Captain and is responsible for ensuring that everyone in the entry understands and follows all parade regulations.
General Parade Rules
- Firearms may not be possessed or carried in the parade.
- Only pre-registered participants may participate. There is no on-site registration.
- Horses are not permitted in the parade.
- Dogs must be tethered and under the control of an adult age 18 or older. All leash and cleanup laws must be followed.
- Children under age 12 may not walk in the parade. They must ride and remain on a float unless participating in a lighted bicycle group with adults for the duration of the parade.
- Performers should keep moving and should not stop to perform in a way that creates gaps in the parade.
- Do not call spectators from the crowd toward your vehicle, float or group.
Vehicles, Motorcycles & Bicycles
- At lineup, Kinston Police Department may check parade vehicles for active registration, valid inspection and insurance.
- Vehicles should maintain at least one car length of distance from the vehicle ahead.
- Car, motorcycle and bicycle clubs may include up to 10 vehicles or bicycles under one registration fee.
- Use extreme caution with any motorized vehicle activity or stunts.
- Turning left onto East Caswell Street may be tight for longer vehicles. Plan accordingly.
Candy & Items for Spectators
Tossing, throwing or handing candy or other items to spectators is prohibited. Violators may be removed from the parade.
Spectator Safety
- Spectators must remain on sidewalks and out of the street.
- Police officers will assist with keeping spectators out of the parade route.
- Spectators should not cross the street while the parade is moving.
- Entries are encouraged to have volunteers walk alongside the entry to help keep spectators safely away from moving vehicles and floats.
Railroad Crossing
The train does not stop for the parade. It may slow down. Participants should be mindful when approaching Queen and Blount Streets and must not block the railroad tracks.
Floats
- Floats should be completed before arriving at Grainger Stadium.
- Incomplete floats may be disqualified by the lineup organizer.
- Floats must be constructed so they remain intact throughout the parade route.
- Exercise extra caution because this is an evening parade with spectators lining the route.
Lights
The theme is Light the Night. Participants are encouraged to use as many lights as practical on floats, vehicles, bicycles, costumes, musical instruments and other displays.
Make sure your entry is visible to spectators and to the Neuse News live-stream audience. Even simple lighting such as glow sticks can help make your entry more visible and festive.
Family-Friendly Content
This is a family Christmas parade. Adult, offensive or potentially dangerous displays, performances or broadcasts are prohibited.
Costumes, dance routines, music and other performances must remain appropriate for children and families. Profanity, offensive lyrics and disrespectful or inappropriate performances are prohibited.
Generators
Generators used for lights and sound should be installed with safety in mind and should not unnecessarily detract from the experience through excessive noise. Quiet generators are preferred.
A fire extinguisher should be readily available when a generator is being used.
Staging & Lineup
Staging Begins at 1:00 PM

Staging takes place from approximately 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Most performers will be positioned near the front of the parade and should arrive early.
Staging Management
Staging is managed by Scott Alston and the Kinston/Lenoir County Parks & Recreation team.
Decisions made by the staging team at the lineup location are final. Participants are asked to remain patient and courteous during lineup.
Your Team Captain
The individual completing the parade registration becomes the Team Captain and primary contact for the entry.
If you are registering on behalf of other participants, you are responsible for ensuring that every participant in your parade crew is aware of and follows all rules and regulations.

Vendors
This parade registration is not a vendor registration.
Vendors must register directly through Downtown Kinston Revitalization. Unregistered vendors are not permitted.
Hold Harmless Agreement
Registration requires acceptance of the Hold Harmless Agreement.

The undersigned participant and any affiliated persons or entities hereby agree to protect, defend, indemnify and hold Downtown Kinston Revitalization, City of Kinston, their officials, employees and agents, free and harmless from and against any and all losses, penalties, damages, settlements, costs, charges, professional fees or other expenses or liabilities of every kind and arising out of or relating to any and all claims, liens, demands, obligations, actions, proceedings, or causes of action of every kind, whether for property damage, personal injury or death, in connection with or arising out of participation in the below-referenced event and any and all associated activities in accordance therewith and the use of the public property allowed thereby.
As stated and agreed to in the registration form, Downtown Kinston Revitalization's parade insurance does not cover parade participants or spectators.

No-Fee Entries

Registration is not complete until payment has been received. Registration fees are non-refundable.
