DKR to assist City With New Ordinances

As the non-profit organization transitions to next level revitalization with eager change-makers serving as Board members, the DK Economic Vitality Committee will begin addressing two important tasks from the newly created strategic plan; a Social District Ordinance and a Neglected Buildings Ordinance.  DK is reviewing examples from other cities and will make recommendations to the City Planning Director and Council.  

A Social District downtown will be very similar to BBQ Festival whereby one can walk around within the designated district boundaries with alcohol.  A neglected buildings ordinance will address those properties that are vacant, neglected, create liability issues and other concerns.  Both of these efforts are expected to facilitate economic development downtown.
